CAN sets Date to Pray for 2019 Elections

January 10 has been set aside to Pray for the forthcoming election by the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN to solicit with God for a credible, free, fair and a peaceful elections.

CAN has revealed that on that day, freedom will be declared by faith to those under the captivity of Boko Haram

CAN President, Rev. Samson Ayokunle, in a statement on Saturday  by his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Adebayo Oladeji, said the prayer would be held in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory between 11am and 2pm.

Ayokunle said the programme was to seek God’s intervention in preventing violence, manipulation, intimidation of voters and other electoral crimes in the forthcoming elections.

He said that all Christian politicians, especially those vying for offices, Christian groups or organizations and stakeholders were invited to participate in the programme.

The CAN president directed all bloc chairmen, zonal chairmen, states and local chairmen, and all church leaders, to mobilise their members nationwide for the programme.

He said the participants were to assemble at the National Christian Centre in  Abuja for the prayer.

“That God should use the process to give the country good and Godly leaders at all levels; and that every evil plan against Nigeria be frustrated.

“’That God should stop all groups behind the killings in Nigeria and their financiers and that 2019 should be a new dawn for Nigeria.”

The president appealed to Churches and Christians in the country to participate in the programme in order to usher the country into a new era of peace, unity, safety and all-round prosperity.

Regardless of your religion, this is a call to action, join CAN and pray for Nigeria in your own way. Lets pray for this country and its leaders, lets pray for peace and prosperity, lets ask God to take charge in 2019.
